Foster and Family Games was thrilled to announce that its 2D arcade flight game, Loose Nozzles, was named TouchArcade’s Game of the Week after its launch on September 22, 2022. A labor of love from designer and programmer Chris Foster (The Beatles Rock Band, Green Day: Rock Band, The Lord of the Rings Online) and his son Ian starting at age 5, Loose Nozzles combines physics-based play and classic arcade mechanics with a hand-drawn art style and vocalized sound effects.
This honor from TouchArcade arrived among praise from multiple sites for the game:
- Droid Gamers listed Loose Nozzles among its Best New Android games This Week: “A free indie delight created by a veteran game developer and his young son, Loose Nozzles is an adorable little mobile game.”
- Pocket Gamer put Loose Nozzles at #1 on its list of 5 New Mobile Games to Try This Week: “Few games out there can authentically capture the essence of what it means to play games like a child, but Loose Nozzles accomplishes that effortlessly.”
- TouchArcade declared Loose Nozzles its Game of the Week, noting: “The way it was created is interesting and heartwarming, but when it comes to gameplay it’s also nuanced and thoughtfully designed. This is a full package deal and one of the more challenging and engrossing games I’ve played in a while.”
A long-time Boston-area game developer, Chris will discuss the creation of the game with Boston Indies, one of the city’s many industry communities, on Tuesday, October 24. This portmortem will explain the origins of the game; discuss the creative and personal challenges it faced over its eight-year development cycle; and offer insights for other developers making their own solo or small-team indie projects. Details of the talk will be forthcoming at: https://www.meetup.com/bostongamedev/events/
Loose Nozzles is out now on the iOS and Google Play app stores, as a free download with a one-time purchase to unlock additional features.
